It’s important to us that we are able to offer the best service possible to each client. To make sure our skills match your project, we will first ask a few questions to better understand your manuscript, intentions, and goals for publication.
After we have decided how we can best work together, we will supply a standard freelance editing contract based on our discussion that clearly states what services we will provide, the total fee, and the agreed upon deadline. This ensures that our arrangement is transparent, understood by both sides, and professional.
We accept manuscripts by email to email@example.com in MS Word (.doc or .docx), Open Office (.odt), or Rich Text (.rtf) format. We do not accept hard copies, and only accept PDF files for editorial evaluations. We may be able to accommodate other file types like InDesign (.indd) when appropriate.
Please note that while we thoroughly read the text several times during our editing, the price quoted is for one pass and does not include a follow-up review after we have submitted the edited files to you. We are happy to discuss further editing if you feel the manuscript needs additional work before publication, however this service is not included in our standard rates.
As editing specialists, our focus is on helping to clean up language issues and with your book’s structure. As such, we do not do extensive fact-checking, indexing, formatting for publishers, graphic work, or marketing. However, we try hard to accommodate special requests when possible and may be able to refer you to other specialists to meet your needs. Fees and Payment
Payment is due in full within two weeks of completing the job. We accept payment through PayPal internationally. We do accept personal cheques in some cases, however full payment is required before we begin our work. Canadian authors will be charged tax based on their provincial rates.
Our schedule varies, but we will make every attempt to meet your deadline. In general, we require ten days for an editorial evaluation and three weeks for copy editing, content editing, and proofreading. Extended timelines are required for extra-long manuscripts. We are often able to accommodate rush jobs, but a surcharge may apply.
